Compulsory Education Platform for Visa Holders

 

The online platform allows holders of residence visas in the State of Qatar, aged 6 – 18 years old, to submit electronic applications for registration in public and private schools or to verify their academic status outside the country.

Guidelines and rules for parents when using the visa platform

            1.   Proof of study outside the State of Qatar

·       The parent must provide proof of his/her child’s compulsory education, aged 6 – 18 years old, or provide justification for his/her child’s non-enrollment according to the options available on the portal.

·        All applications will be examined by a specialized committee. The parent might be contacted if needed.

·       It is also the responsibility of the parent to ensure the authenticity of all information and documents submitted/uploaded to avoid any legal actions if proved otherwise.

 

             2.   Submit an electronic registration application for private schools

·        The parent can access the school’s website to see all related details (school fees, type of curriculum, stages, geographic location, contact details).

·        Upon submission of an application for registration by the parent, the school will review and approve the application if no amendments are made.

·        The private school will contact the parent to schedule an interview with the student and put him/her to a test in accordance with the policy of each private school.

·       A parent may cancel the application unless approved by the school.

·        After the application is approved, the parent can only transfer his/her child to another school at the beginning of the academic year.

 

              3.   Submit an electronic registration application for Public Schools

Categories of students admitted to public schools: 

The admission of new students to public schools is limited to the following categories:

·        Children of a Qatari citizen father.

·        Children of a Qatari citizen mother.

·        Children of the citizens of the GCC countries.

·        Children of non-Qataris working in ministries, government agencies, and public bodies and institutions.

·        Children of non-Qataris working in private charitable associations and institutions.

·        Children of private sector workers residing in areas and villages where there are no private schools.

·        Children of holders of permanent residency who are not employed by government agencies, provided they are admitted for the following academic year from the date of receipt of their permanent residency card. Their children should not exceed eighteen years of age at the beginning of the academic year and should have sufficient knowledge of Arabic language.

Non-Arabic speaking nationalities are required to have sufficient knowledge of the Arabic language and should pass the admission test.

The following documents should be in PDF form when submitting the application for student registration.

·        A parent’s work letter from the employer (in Arabic, clear, and recent - not issued more than one month after the date of submission of the registration application).

·        Student's birth certificate.

·        Electricity certificate (under the name of the parent) or the parent’s residence lease contract (certified by the Ministry of Municipality).

Requirements after arrival to the State of Qatar:

·        The student’s health file is required upon arrival to the State of Qatar and must be submitted to the school with the required registration documents before the student starts his/her schooling.

·        Equivalency of the student’s certificate of study is required (for Grades 2 to 12).

·        An admission test is also required in Arabic (for non-Arabic speaking students).
